Hello! And welcome to the 14th post of Pizza Rat's Paradise.

A pastry of divine tastes. The praline cream is something that tickles my palate - I'm a fan of hazelnut, walnut-flavored creams -- I don't know why exactly, is it nature and/or nurture? A little bit of column A, a little bit of column B. I think my tastebuds have been primed by sophisticated elitists, and sophists, but also, there is something about when you've been deprived of something for so long, you miss it -- the heart grows fonder. It's nutty, buttery, sweet and earthy. The slight tan color, warm and inviting, homey. The flecks of hazelnut and soft swirls providing contrast to the crisp and flaky almondy choux.


It's been awhile since I've had something like this, but perhaps back then I didn't appreciate it as much as I should have -- I had always been surrounded by fine pastry and those who loved those kinds of baked goods.


And a good mocha to pair with.
