Hello! And welcome to the 17th post of Pizza Rat's Paradise.
Pictured above is the spread I had in the Behind the Museum Cafe. It is an unbelievably gorgeous meal -- hot green tea, a green tea cake with nuts (pecans perhaps?) added in, plus onigiri and edamame served with a matcha latte with a poured floral decoration on top.
As part of this 1-week Spring Break trip to Portland, OR using the Amtrak train (which was so unbelievably gorgeous, and highly recommend) -- perhaps my favorite part was the front of the train that had glass windows, so you could look out into the lush scenery rushing by -- we took the train up from LA Union Station, and made our way up the Pacific Northwest Coast. We saw the coastline rush by: cliffs overlooking crashing waves; seafoam lacing the shores. The train sped its tracks through many forests, many redwoods...
A koi fishpond featuring "Mustachio."
Some unbelievably gorgeous figurines I also encountered in that area. Upon first glance, I am reminded of "Matryoshka" dolls, but that's not quite right, is it? :) I look it up, and I learn that perhaps the more appropriate term is "Kokeshi dolls."
If you have made it this far, thank you for reading! 💚
