Hello! And welcome to the 22nd post of Pizza Rat's Paradise.
Not pictured: Jalapeño & Queso Tamale with obligatory cheese pull and their Cantaloupe Water
A local favorite, this was recommended to me and the chance was too good to pass up -- I headed there by foot and tried their Chicharron, Chorizo and Mole Poblano, with Cantaloupe Water.
You can see by the pictures that the food is true to the menu online -- an impressive feat, if I may add.
It was my first time trying chicharron in this kind of a form, and I have to say, I love sampling "alternative" or "organ/gamey" type meats in general -- this was no exception (there may be some I will never be down to try... It did have a bit of a chew. It was an interesting new gustatory experience.
The chorizo and mole poblano tasted as expected -- delicious and incredibly satisfying. I love chorizo -- a couple of times I have tried to cook it at home, but it never turns out quite right.
Perhaps the thing I love most about authentic / amazing LA tacos is the warm, fresh shell that is made from scratch and not from the store-bought package. The way you can really taste the difference between bleached wheat flour and more stone-milled grain flour, I prefer that whole-grain, less-processed taste -- it's so much richer, nutrient-dense, and flavorful.
Love you Guisado's!
If you have made it this far, thank you for reading! 💚
