Hello! And welcome to the 9th post of Pizza Rat's Paradise.
My first time trying tuna tartare, topped with sliced green onion and black caviar. It was supreme and the ice bath was a nice touch.
In trying to come up with a tag for this post -- I found myself a little stumped -- is this Japanese cuisine, French cuisine, a fusion?
Turns out - it's all of the above:
A quick Google search from a couple of sources cite that Japanese-born, French-trained chef Shigefumi Tachibe invented this dish spur of the moment when 5 customers came in requesting beef tartare, but one said, "I don't eat beef," so he used tuna instead. So, a star dish was born :)
If you have made it this far, thank you for reading! 💚
Appreciate any suggestions on what I should do next. If you would like to collaborate or support, feel free to comment, share, like below.
