"When my father was being prepped for emergency surgery, we needed to remove his wedding ring quickly My brother taught this trick to the surgeon as he has to use it in the field for wounded soldiers quite a few times. It really works!"

"By changing the speed and ratio, the figure goes trough the rational proportions (1:1, 2:1, 3:1, …)=harmonic and stable.
If the ratio is a bit out of this exact ratio it starts slowly rotate in one direction left/right depending on, if it is slower or faster than the other motor.
But the rest of the states, nearly all the rest are quasiperiodic states which looks random and chaotic to the naked eye.
The most interesting for me is the fact, that it must go through the chaotic states before it can appear and slowly stop it in those which are hamonic, than slowly disappear again and so on."

"This is not just a numbers game," the scientists write. "The authors also found a missing link in RNA virus evolution [the aforementioned Taraviricota] and discovered new phyla that dominate in the oceans and might infect mitochondria." They also discovered a phylum they have dubbed Arctiviricota, which they describe as "widespread and dominant in the oceans. These efforts provide foundational knowledge critical to integrating RNA viruses into ecological and epidemiological models."

"We were inspired by nature, where chirality is a common phenomenon. Chiral molecules can act like a filter for electron spin and ensure functionality even on the smallest scale," said Professor Angela Wittmann of the JGU Institute of Physics, the spokesperson of the new HYMMS – Hybrid chiral Molecule-Magnetic Systems research project. Over the next two years, the HYMMS group will receive EUR 750,000 from the Carl Zeiss Foundation.
